Interface of Social Media: E-Diseases

FAKTOR Community Health and Sport Association participated as a partner in the Erasmus+ youth project “Interface of Social Media: E-Diseases”, project reference 2022-3-IT03-KA152-YOU-000094205, implemented under the Mobility of Young People action. The project brought together young people from Czechia, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Portugal, Romania, and Türkiye to explore the effects of social media on young people’s physical, mental, and social well-being.
Today, social media has become an important part of everyday life, providing opportunities for communication, self-expression, learning, advertising, and interaction. However, excessive or unconscious use can also create various challenges for young people, including social comparison, cyberbullying, exposure to harmful content, unnecessary consumption habits, attention difficulties, and reduced social interaction. The project therefore focused on encouraging young people to approach social media more consciously and develop healthier digital habits rather than simply restricting their use.
Throughout the project, participants were encouraged to reflect on their own social media habits and the possible physical and mental effects of excessive screen time. The activities also highlighted the importance of spending time on meaningful alternatives such as sports, arts, hobbies, and other personal development activities. In this way, the project aimed to help young people use their time more effectively while strengthening their personal, social, and emotional skills.
Another important aspect of the project was fostering intercultural communication and learning. Participants had the opportunity to meet young people from different European countries, communicate in English, exchange experiences, and develop a better understanding of different perspectives. The project also introduced participants to opportunities offered by Erasmus+ and the Youthpass Certificate, while promoting computer-assisted learning and the responsible use of digital tools.
Through its participation as a partner, FAKTOR Community Health and Sport Association contributed to a learning environment that encouraged young people to think critically about their relationship with social media and digital technologies. The project ultimately supported the development of healthier and more conscious digital habits, while promoting inclusion, intercultural dialogue, personal development, and active participation among young people.
