As a partner of the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange project "The Story of a String Storyteller" (Project No: 2023-1-ES02-KA152-YOU-000117032), FAKTOR a Jövő Közösségéért Egészségügyi és Sportegyesület continued its international learning journey in Madrid/Alcobendas, Spain, alongside organizations and young participants from Spain, Turkey, Hungary, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, and Romania.
Designed to increase awareness of visual impairment and promote social inclusion, the project encourages young people to better understand the everyday challenges experienced by visually impaired individuals while developing practical solutions through non-formal education.
The third day centred on accessibility in everyday social environments. Participants worked in multicultural teams to analyse obstacles encountered by visually impaired people in restaurants and public spaces before proposing innovative ideas to improve accessibility and independence.
One of the most meaningful moments of the day was an empathy-based simulation, where participants experienced navigating unfamiliar environments while blindfolded. This practical exercise helped them recognize the importance of accessible services, respectful communication, and inclusive design from the perspective of visually impaired individuals.
FAKTOR participants also contributed to the development of tactile restaurant maps and Braille menus, demonstrating how international teamwork can produce simple yet effective solutions that encourage greater independence and participation. The experience reinforced the importance of combining creativity with social responsibility to build more inclusive communities.
