Throughout the day, participants from Austria, Türkiye, Greece, Spain, Ukraine, and Hungary took part in simulations, role-playing exercises, and group challenges designed to help them better understand the emotional, social, and practical difficulties refugees often face. By placing themselves in unfamiliar situations, participants explored the importance of empathy, resilience, and mutual support while reflecting on the consequences of prejudice and exclusion.
The programme also featured collaborative discussions where multicultural teams exchanged ideas on how young people can contribute to more inclusive societies. Participants examined the role of youth work, volunteering, and community initiatives in supporting refugees and promoting equal opportunities, while learning from one another's experiences and perspectives.
Using non-formal education methods, the activities strengthened participants' communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and intercultural competences. The workshops encouraged everyone to move beyond stereotypes and recognize the value of diversity, demonstrating that meaningful dialogue is one of the most effective ways to build understanding between people from different backgrounds.
The day concluded with a comprehensive evaluation session, during which participants reflected on the lessons they had learned and considered how they could apply these experiences in their local communities to promote solidarity, inclusion, and respect for human rights long after the project comes to an end.
